Hi all

Eagerly awaiting my ST170 (w STHP) delivery tomorrow and have been eyeing up a few tasteful oem+ upgrades.

One such upgrade would be to have full control over the exhaust valve, if it’s anything like my old 1.5 the sport button really doesn’t do a whole lot, only opens the valve at idle and above 4k or full throttle. Given the lack of pops and bangs on the new model, might be a little too muted for my liking. To remedy this, i’m very tempted by the ASR valve controller by Miltek which would allow me to have full discretion over when the valve is open and (according to youtube vids of 1.5s with this mod on the stock exhaust) should allow for a lot more sound when at half throttle, decel and revving at a standstill.

While i’m a young lad, i’m not a complete yobo so not looking for an aftermarket system or anything mad haha

Has anyone had any experience with this system (on any puma ST or FiST), i’d be really interested to hear an owners perspective?

It’s a 1.0, does it have an exhaust valve? Best advice is obviously leave it alone especially if it’s on a pcp as it’s not yours until every penny is paid.

Finally confirmation that the Puma isn't an older drivers car at all.

Remember that most modifications are notifiable to your insurance company and you don't want to be giving them any excuse not to pay out on a claim especially when the car isn't yours and subject to a finance agreement.

Why bother, the 1ltr will get spanked by most cars.

I recently had a custom made exhaust system for my ST 1.5. Not silly big bore and not silly loud. Made from scratch. Life time warranty. Beautifully made, valve assembly included and with sensible exhaust tips. (Terrible rust ridden original - made with cheep mild steel)
I had given up trying to find an off the shelf St Steel system that suited my requirements.
A much deeper exhaust note with vale shut whilst louder when open. Works perfectly.
Plus a slight increase in engine torque. Insurance company aware.

I’ve had a valve controller on a couple of my cars, and it made a big difference in terms of sound control without going overboard. The Miltek system you’re looking at seems like a good middle ground—gives you that extra bit of noise when you want it, especially on decel or at half throttle, but still keeps things pretty tame overall. I like that it keeps the OEM feel but lets you tweak it to your taste without going full aftermarket. If you’re not trying to make the car crazy loud, it could be exactly what you’re after.

It's a shame when you are reduced to using boy racer tropes on an adult forum.

Is it really worth it on the 1ltr automatic version of the ST though,I was reading on here that they use the battery to get to 170 and not sure of the stresses on that little engine. And watch out for the blooming thermostat housing as they are a weak point had two go on the Fiesta after 20k as the gasket starts weeping and leaking coolant

I have the full fat 1.5ltr manual and if you drive changing gears you get plenty of gurgles and pops if you want them, track mode is fun with the gear change lights

Agree with Sparks, Vignale is also a lovely car and probably better than the new ST now Ford have deemed to lower the ST brand IMO

Probably the ST Focus would be the next best thing and will -probably go that route if it’s not been messed with by the time I look around.

I would make sure you get flaps fitted as paint gets stripped on leading edge of the sills and those performance seats wear prematurely in my experience and had a fight to get them covered under warranty
