I know the bike test was laughably easy back in the day with the examiner standing at side of road watching, but to pass a car test with no lessons is an incredible feat because simply being able to operate the mechanicals is not enough...you need to know the routine of what is required of you in that short time period.

Was easy tbh, I studied the highway code intensely and the driving was easy, obviously I had been on the road with bikes after passing that test and with a flying triangle was all the road sense practice I needed. To make things a little more difficult for me my dad insisted I took it in his Chevette which I’d only driven a couple of times instead of my Marina on the day.Ron240 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:38 amI know the bike test was laughably easy back in the day with the examiner standing at side of road watching, but to pass a car test with no lessons is an incredible feat because simply being able to operate the mechanicals is not enough...you need to know the routine of what is required of you in that short time period.
The mechanics of driving is easy enough but the critical thing about passing a test is the ability to drive in a prescribed manner, which is something you cannot know unless you have received instruction on the subject.4251 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 12:09 pm Was easy tbh, I studied the highway code intensely and the driving was easy, obviously I had been on the road with bikes after passing that test and with a flying triangle was all the road sense practice I needed. To reinforce this point you would be extremely unlikely to pass a modern driving test unless you had received prior instruction on what is expected of you.

Well, I found the test a piece of cake. Been driving/riding on roads for over two years when took it. Only thing that I was concerned about was getting caught out on the HC questions, but they were a breeze too. Wouldn’t have dreamt of gettin lessons, drove around for three months with mates who’d passed their tests waiting for mineRon240 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 12:30 pmThe mechanics of driving is easy enough but the critical thing about passing a test is the ability to drive in a prescribed manner, which is something you cannot know unless you have received instruction on the subject.4251 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 12:09 pm Was easy tbh, I studied the highway code intensely and the driving was easy, obviously I had been on the road with bikes after passing that test and with a flying triangle was all the road sense practice I needed. I had a 2018 S3 Saloon in Ara Blue, and what a fantastic car it was.
Ive just noticed you bought your Fiesta from same dealer as me and picked it up the month before I got my Puma.
I have used this dealer a few times in the past, and have bought cars from Elena, Ronnie and most recently Lee.
Small world.

@Ron240 Ara blue is a fantastic colour, did you frequent Audi-Sport.net ? I've gone for frozen white on the Puma,or i should say my wife has chosen frozen white,Yeah we are dealing with Lee again nice chap as is Ronnie,no idea when the car will arrive could even be January,we both dislike the fiesta a lot is was purchased as a stop Gap car...but didn't think it would this short
I did indeed, and I have just connected the dots in my head now...we used to speak quite a lot between 2018 - 2020.
I always thought your S3 looked beautiful!
Have you moved house since we last spoke, because that would be a fair distance to travel up to Kirkcaldy to buy your Fords?
You mentioned in the other thread about not getting on with the manual gearbox. I know what you mean because including my Audi I had a run of 3 cars with dual clutch autos and my Puma ST has seen me go back to a manual, but I do much prefer an auto gearbox now.
I would imagine it should be possible to extract a bit more power and torque from the 170PS engine, but not sure how much because it must be already close to the top of its tune.

Hi Ron,I last remembered that you had the Mercedes CLA ,I changed the S3 for the TTS,only owned the TTS for 5 months, sold it October 2021,at the same time I ordered a RS3 8Y vorspung in Riviera Blue then after waiting 20 months and counting,I decided to cancel, during that wait my perspective on things changed,so I am hoping the Puma will be superior to the fiesta, we got in touch with Kirkcaldy ford initially through Carwow, still living in Cumbernauld mate
