Couldn't agree more, but where's the VHS option lol. I made that mistake going Beta and won't be doing it again. Dealers are going to struggle to meet their new EV sales and the motor industry may collectively put pressure on the government to relax their £1,500 "fine" per ICE registration over their 20% target but then all the dealers will do is add that cost to the car meaning you and I pay in the end. I often wonder whether the real concern is over emissions or collecting more money. Insurance premium tax is a classic example of another tax on the motorist.
Our government has made it favourable to company car owners to choose an EV by reducing the benefit in kind rate to 2% for EV's and 14% for a hybrid. It would be over 30% for my diesel Kuga as an example. Money talks at the end of the day and just under 60% of new car sales are business users, hence the steady increase in sales for both EV and hybrid. EV's it seems are not as popular in the largest European country, Germany. In fact none of the European countries I checked seem to be giving incentives to move to EV's. You save 25% VAT in Norway if you buy a new EV. That's a decent saving.
Whilst the dealers may be able to sell every new car they have, who is going to buy a second hand EV, certainly one which is coming to the end of it's battery warranty.
I don't have anything against the EV per se. One would actually suit our needs with us doing mainly local miles but the cost for anything decent makes you wonder how the dealers are going to shift them. It was bad enough trying to get parked at three dealerships I visited last weekend due to the amount of cars they have for sale and on stock.

Anyone with half a brain is going to buy used EV's..A one year old EV will could be 50% or more less than when new.
As for battery warranty, If I wanted and EV, wouldn't worry about it. Toyota have batteries still running perfectly well after 20 years.
All that said, I don't want one yet...

It's a shame there isn't a "like" option on the forum as you raise a good point. Second hand prices could be a driving factor as that is the main marketSparks wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 10:38 pm Anyone with half a brain is going to buy used EV's..A one year old EV will could be 50% or more less than when new.

Yes, my wife has a Yaris GR sport and along with all Toyota's, as long as you have it serviced by them they renew the warranty for ten years.... So few worries...
