I have always been tempted by the unbeatable discounts that drivethedeal offer, but living in Scotland I have always been put off for the obvious reason.
You are a fellow Scot so I am wondering if you have you ever bought a car through them, and if so how far did you need to travel?

Sparks wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 2:59 pm OK, looks like it's time to be seriously looking for my next car. Ford contacted me yesterday with the usual, 'You've been selected for a special Ford up front payment on your next car' , or similar...
Told them to look at deals and get back to me. I don't like the facelift Puma, the more I look at it the more I'm put off.
I need to rid myself of thinking about the power and drive of the Puma as it's making my choice difficult because not a lot match up to it.
I'm tempted by the Yaris cross for the reliability and 10 year warranty, plus I'm not offended by the looks.
Alternative suggestions welcome.
Another problem (1st world) I have is that I still have a £250 Ford voucher to use.....As the car is going soon, nothing to use it on... :(
I suppose if I go for a new Puma (Oh dear! I can't believe I said that :o ) I could get a dashcam fitted...... :D
I think your exaggerating the handling and drive, others are just as good if not better. Most VAG cars are more than a match. Its a raised rocky suv snd not a match for proper hatchbacks no matter what clueless journalist say. And the Puma is near the bottom when it comes to built quality and materials used these days. If they did a proper ST still, I certainly wouldn’t buy another now, would have considered another pre facelift but not the facelift, the steering wheel and dash etc writes it off.

The Focus is a much better car than the Puma, build quality is a level up and so is refinement and the handling and drive certainly is.
I'm only going by the ones I've test driven so far....As I said, not a VW fan in general but I'll pop in and have a look. I'll be looking at the focus, but, it might be a bit low down for my liking. Yaris Cross still out front at the moment.

I do hope you stay with the Puma and on this forum a bit longer, Sparks - have always enjoyed your posts
I've still got 6 months before it has to go, but, I'm ready for a change. I was really hoping that when they announced a facelift, they would up their game a bit. I think the dealer is struggling to get one with everything on it at a half decent price point anyway.....
Love this forum, and if I have to go I'll miss it....Probably one of the most grown up ones I've been on. Very few falling outs....😉 I need to hit 5,000 posts before I go.....

Don’t let yourself be influenced by decades of out of date pre judgements. The VW Audi group generally produce far superior products in every way, that’s why they massively outsell Ford. The Focus really is a much better car and its built much better in Germany too. You could get the Active which is raised up if it’s still available. The best normal version was the 120 diesel but another stupid Ford decision sees it dropped. Im using one for work currently snd seeing a constant 60+ mpg. So only 1.0’s which for me rules a new one out although at least they have a better manual gearbox in them I believe

No out of date pre judgements, not sure where you dragged that up from......They've not made anything I like the look of, so, not a fan, simples.

Hi, I am in the process of looking at other models (been fordie for over 35 years) I want a automatic and reliable. Not convinced about the new puma. Kuga fhev is a great drive but obviously a lot bigger and expensive, focus was a great improvement in quality to the puma but was too low, I needed to do a commando role to get out of it. The focus active is only slightly taller but some good offers on them. Had a Test drive in a honda jazz crosstar, great drive but not convinced by the looks, toyota yaris cross is next and maybe a skoda kamiq

who says you have to leave the forum just because you have sold your Puma?
i still check in now and again to see whats happening.
Let me know what you think about the Yaris, nephews partner is thinking of offloading her puma before March and wants something s little smaller and hopefully more reliable having just had the gearbox rebuilt and now a wheel bearing on their Puma which I'm wondering if it was damaged when the box was out?
ST Line X 155 Agate Black with comfort pack plus spare wheel( sold :( )

Hi Ron,yes I've used drivethedeal twice before on my last 2 cars, travelling to Grimsby and London,I drove down to Grimsby for the TT,Flew down to Luton airport then a pre-booked taxi for the rest of the journey but discounts on both occasions outweighed the travel,l also tried Carwow for the Golf R but no Scottish dealer could match, the discounts available on drivethedeal......Best offer on Carwow was from Kirkcaldy VW which was £5200
On order Puma ST with pano roof and handling pack

Looks is certainly not one of the Puma’s strengths, and you like the Yaris, obviously taste varies a lot! There are dozens of totally different and extremely stylish Cupra, VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat, amongst them some of better looking cars on the roads.

When I was looking at getting a car from them they offered delivery to your door although Scotland may be an issue.
