But it does fly, so what does that tell you about the theory? My car accelerates much more quickly in sport mode, certainly in the examples I have given, than in normal mode, so theoretical statistics that say it doesn’t must be wrong.
You know what has often been said: “there are lies, damned lies and statistics”. I will look up who said that! I am not suggesting that anyone is telling lies in this case, quite the opposite, but I am saying that statistics may not tell the whole story.
Yours is theoretical, ours is fact. All that is happening is when you press the sport mode, the car is applying a little more throttle without you doing anything, but just press the pedal a little more in normal and exactly the same result will occur.

To prove the point put your foot to the floor and then switch from normal to sport, there is absolutely no difference

Ford or any other manufacturer state their performance figures in the normal default mode, they don’t and cannot give the car more power in Sport mode!

Way out of date or they are likely just mechanically inept like 99.9 % of journalists and pen pushers, but it’s along the right lines. There are zero cams and links, the throttle is an electrical potentiometer and everything else is done by the PCM the rest is down to your gullibility
