How’s everyone getting on with the new puma facelift?
Had mine about 6 weeks now, love the car, had the old one before, not liking the one stick with everything on, indicators, front and back wipers! Better with two sticks,
The screen also takes a while to get use to, too much on there.

Like to know what u all think.

I've had mine about three weeks now and i have started to really enjoy driving it now.
As i said in an earlier post the first thing i noticed was the road noise but i don't notice it so much when i'm on a major road as opposed to just driving it around town.
It seems a lot "nippier" than the Mokka i had been driving.
I do like the new dashboard and infotainment screen and i am getting used to the non physical buttons.
A few trivial negatives:I used to like the change gear sign which came with the Mokka as it was pretty spot on.On the puma i just disregard it as it says to change gear to quickly.ie asking me to change up to sixth gear when i'm only doing fifty mph.The other thing is i like to leave the screen on map but when i start the Puma it reverts back to the old screen and i have to start mucking around with it to get back to maps.
Oh and one last thing the chiming when you are going over the speed limit isn't as bad as i thought it was going to be and i've just got used to it.
Overall i am very pleased with the puma and i don't regret at all buying it.

Agreed....Just looks too bland and half finished.
What the hell is the point of analogue dials with no numbers on, which brain dead nugget thought of that
Probably the same nugget who designs the parcel shelves, early powershift gearbox and thought belts run in oil was a good experiment. Not to mention the poor water cooling on the 1.5 petrol, althiugh I see the 1 litre has a similar set up but is without issue.

Also could be the same nugget who thinks bonding door seals to door surrounds is a good idea.
Just seen, yes some pretty dim designers work for Ford.

They have been practicing the self removing seals for some time now, MK 3 Focus sheds them for fun. Seem to have perfected it now to include most other external seals. Maybe they could look at other cars and get sone ideas on how to do it properly.

What is the 1.5 water cooling issue? Never had any of that whatsoever.

Yes you shouldn’t need a nanny aid to tell when to change gear, but equally you cannot set a definitive speed as a time to change gear either, it depends on engine load and terrain exactly the same as the other 5. But 6th gear at 50 is certainly not extreme. Cruising along you should be able to use 6th gear way slower than that, it isn’t an overdrive it’s simply top gear.

Road noise is from the poor bushing of the suspension allowing tyre noise into the car, Vauxhall have always been better in this dept. I would think if it’s regularly chiming at you for speeding maybe you need to slow down? Can you not add a couple of mph to the trigger point, you can on the pre current effort, which the corrects the fast reading speedometer

You can switch the chimes off by holding the LiM button down , it does revert when you do a power off but only takes a couple of seconds.

It does remember which drive mode you are in and gives you the option to switch to it when you first start the car.

I never take any notice of these gimmicky gear change indicator things, except maybe to laugh at it sometimes for the reasons you mention.
I remember when I had a 2008 8th generation Honda Civic which had a standard 6 speed box that was quite rare at the time. I was a member of the Civinfo forum and some of the guys insisted that it was perfectly fine to drive around town (30mph limit) in 6th gear.
Now that really was extreme!

The gear change indicators are just for eco purposes, not necessarily best driving. Supposedly best for controlling emissions, another thing the manufacturers were forced to implement.
Happy I don't see them since getting the Auto... :D

The 1.5 Ecoboost engine fitted to the Kuga up to and including 2018 models. Practically no metal in between the cylinders for a head gasket to seal to and have a thin slit for coolant. Goes against normal engine design. Result is coolant leaks into the cylinder requiring a new block. Not sure if this is the same engine as in the Focus but it's a poor design. Ford changed the design for 2019 models to address the problem and then it was dropped in favour of the 3 cylinder dragon engine.

It's not an issue on all cars but seen more than I would like over on the Kuga forum. Situation even worse in the USA.

Where does that information come from? I have not heard of any head gasket issues with any of these engines. The only recent (8 years ago) issue I have heard about is the Mk3 Focus RS engines which weren’t faulty themselves, they had the incorrect (Mustang) head gasket fitted, which failed. Totally different Mazda L based engine.

The 1.0 has a cast iron block so is closed deck and won’t have the slot your referring to. The 1.5 is an alloy block and is open or semi open deck and likely will have the slot.
