Good afternoon, can someone answer me a couple questions please relating to my new puma St 22 registration 1.5 ecoboost 5 door.

I bought my car from Lookers ford about 6 weeks ago, Im having ongoing issues with Ford pass. the app is saying that im not the registered owner and need to request access to the App, Ive done all the resets on the car to no avail.

I contacted Ford CRC and they have advised me to take the car back to my original dealer for a hard reset and then a softer reset so I can get the ford pass working..

after 10 mintues of driving my car I get a warning light come on my dash "Emergency Call system Malfunction Service Required" and ive read posts on here that its a modem issue, and a issue that can make the ford pass app not work.

Im also wondering when I do and get the ford pass app will I be able to remotely start my car??? My car has a normal manual gearbox as ive read this feature is only available with Automatics.

Great if someone could help me out, because im wondering if taking it back to the dealer is going to be costly the car is under warrenty until June.

Thanks for your help

Hi. Not sure if the automatics do have the ability to remote start, but the manual ST 1.5 definitely doesn't. Maybe a factory reset might help with the app issue if not back to the garage. As it's a Ford dealer then surely they should have reset everything before selling it and don't worry about the cost as it should all be under warranty!

Hi
Yes automatics have the remote start feature though only used twice in nearly 3years.

Taken from the ford site as dont have access to Sync 3 anymore.

Before performing a master reset, try resetting the system to restore functionality that has stopped working. The system reset does not delete any data you have stored. To reset the system:

Simultaneously press and hold the Seek up and the audio unit Power buttons until the screen goes black.
Wait three minutes to allow the system to complete the reset.
Press the audio unit Power button to switch the system on.
If the system reset does not resolve the issue, continue with a master reset.

Performing a Master Reset:

Start your vehicle. Ensure your vehicle is in park and running, not in accessory mode.
Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
Choose General.
Scroll down and press Master Reset. A message confirming that all system settings will be erased and reset to factory defaults will appear.
Press Continue. A Resetting to factory defaults message will appear, the system will turn off and the screen will go blank. It may take a few minutes for the system to reset and resume normal operation.

Only automatics have the remote start i beleive.

As Sheepdog says, only automatics, it's not deemed safe in a manual. Not sure why, probably in case you leave it in gear.
As for your other problems, don't waste time trying to figure it out, get it back to the dealers asap and demand they sort it out. Everything should have been reset properly and any updates done before they sold it to you.,
Edit:- Of course take it to the dealer if Robs solution doesn't work, but every confidence in his knowledge....πŸ‘πŸ˜

I had the same issue with the TCU (modem between glovebox and midconsole) that causes the emergency call malfunction bug. I'd start with that since it is a recall issue and a safety issue they must replace the TCU to a new one for it to go away. If they claim something else it's wrong. And recall doesn't cost, but they might claim they need it there for a day for the updates but as long as it gets replaced, worth it. That message is so annoying when it comes up on every drive. You will also see if the EC led above the rearview mirror is more dim after the change, then it's fine. If it is still as bright as before then it is still in error mode.

I had also issues with adding FordPass to the car, but after TCU had been swapped and i finally managed to completely reset the fordconnect completely to default and empty, then it found my fresh FordPass account. Not so many features on it but maybe the locking is nice to also have on phone, manage to locate it and see tyre pressure. things like that.

And yeah, only auto has remote start, like mentioned before.

So took my car back to the dealer today and they have advised me the car needs a new TCU. Hopefully this will be sorted very soon.
