Ford Performance Seats

So after 2 years of driving 24K I’ve noticed that the piping on the seats is worn down to the cloth and also some white showing through
So after a dealership stated this should be covered under warranty after I’d sent them pictures, I booked it in and drove 30mins down the motorway and left it with them, late afternoon get a call saying it’s not covered

So £757 pound quote to replace the covers front and back I contacted CRC who were very helpful but could only get me £200 goodwill gesture in vouchers
The CEO route through head office was fruitless.

Now wether it is wear is just superfluous as I don’t expect a car seat too wear in 2 years, after pointing this out and blaming the quality of the materials and no OEM covers available etc and stating that I wouldn’t be recommending buying a car with these seats to anyone, Ford head office were still not forthcoming

So I’m paying for it myself fully expecting to again pay a wedge in 2 years time

Anyone else starting to see early wear on these seats as I cannot be the only one, and I look after my cars and never had this issue in previous makes or models

Ford CRC will always try and fob you off, just like any manufacturer. Just let them know that it's no fit for purpose and should last longer than 2 years. What's the point of a 3 year warranty. If you threaten them with legal proceedings, as they haven't got a leg to stand on for a 30K car, I'm sure they will replace them free of charge. I'll have to check mine later.

Yep done that and had call from head office today after contacting CEO They’re not budging from £200 towards it, even though I’d pointed all of that out to them and stating products used not fit for purpose or that I’ve already steered a friend away from purchasing Ford through my seats, and won’t be advocating to anyone else but to go with a different model or make.

I’m paying this time as I like to keep my car nice but I’m guessing two years time be the same again as no decent OEM covers for seats that should be able to enjoy
I guess I could fit good quality seats at some points but why should you have to

Have you notified the dealer you bought it from, presuming you bought it new, as they will be liable for the costs? If not I would be writing to them and even send them a letter before action and seriously be considering claiming the money back through the small claims court, which wouldn't be too difficult. I would also be kicking off on social media, as that sometimes helps.

Thanks

Would appear on other sites thus is not an isolated case and yes tried original dealer I purchased from, they’ve since closed

I guess wouldn’t hurt for me to try CEO of Allen Ford as well see if I get any joy that route

Definitely worth going to Allen Ford. I've checked mine and no sign of any wear yet after 16,500 miles and 15 months. Good luck.

If you are on Facebook keep mentioning it every time the Puma advert pops up with a link to this thread.

have you tried an independent upholsterer( if you can find one locally) , they might be able to replace the worn parts for a fraction of the cost

That's really bad. I was seriously considering picking up one of the last pre-reg 1.5s this month but this kind of thing makes me decide against it.
My Jan 2022 has 39400 miles on it, and it's Recaros have no wear on them. I'm a real fidget too, so I rub about in the seat more than most people.

Had a very nice resolution

Contacted dealership of where I bought the car and they are going to cover the repair, apologised for all the running around and misinformation I had received

So big shout out coming for that dealership of which I will announce once the parts are in stock and fitted

But so far I am a happy person
