Hi everyone.
I'm new to the group so still figuring things out. I was wondering if anyone has remapped the St or is thinking about it?
Did some research on my own and came across a stage one remap box for about £ 380. It says that the power increase jumps from 200 to about 250 bhp.
Has anyone done this?
Remapping the St
I am not convinced about any remap "box" risky in my opinion. It doesn't actually do what it says on the tin. It isn't a true remap. Rather it is a case that the box simply fools the ECU original mapping in to thinking the engine hasn't reached optimal performance. You mention 250bhp that is a fair increase, coming without any supporting upgraded hardware or a better grade of fuel. I wouldn't trust it.
True remapping is the sensible way to go. Dream Science or Mountune is far the safer option whilst way more expensive than what you are quoting.
My 1.5l ST Dragon engine is running with Mountunes M260 upgrade. The remap done simply by using a software download and phone App. However this requires hardware modifications, intercooler, induction and charge pipe, throttle body etc and a requirement for it to be run on 99ron fuel. It is super quick.
I assume your talking about the 200bhp ST and not the ST powershift as I doubt there is any prescribed software map for the 1.0ltr engine yet, if indeed there ever will be.

I went with the Mountune m235 flash - partly for not wanting to upgrade too much hardware but to get as much performance out of the stock set up as possible (just added the Mountune air filter).
Really easy process remapping on the drive, while the overall power gain is not enormous (30/35 bhp) the delivery of the power is greatly improved, with more linear progression/lower down torque and also a noticeable improvement in exhaust sound.
Highly recommend if you want a noticeable OEM feel upgrade without breaking the bank
In total, I've added m235 map, Mountune air filter, Mountune short shift arm, lower torque mount (improved gear shifting 6 SPD manual) and feels like a really nicely rounded daily with great driving dynamics.

Don't forget that a remap is a notifiable insurance modification.

I see 'Arnie' never lived up to his name because he didn't come back.
With very few exceptions it is a waste of one's time putting any effort into answering a first post like that from newly joined members.
Just for my own curiosity about the claimed power increase I did a quick search and was probably this that Arnie was referring to.

I think the Mountune upgrades are worth every penny and I can't fault the quality. However when it comes to availability of some of their hardware you can end up waiting for what feels like forever. Was hoping to install and upgrade my ST with Mountune's exhaust system. But no it's been out of stock for ages and I mean ages.00lukep wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:01 am I went with the Mountune m235 flash - partly for not wanting to upgrade too much hardware but to get as much performance out of the stock set up as possible (just added the Mountune air filter).

I have had several cars remapped in the past, by well established tuners, such as Superchips, and I have been very pleased with the results. My insurers were happy for me to have the modification, provided it was done professionally- not self-fitted. Thy didn’t even put up my premium.
I haven’t bothered with the Puma, as I have the feeling that the small engine is being asked to work hard already. Also the advertised gains in power and torque don’t seem to be enough to bother with it.

I think you would be surprised MrT. I have the M260 (ST 1.5l) along with the recommended hardware. It totally transforms the car. My insurance company is aware and it did increase the premium a bit whilst not significantly. Mapping can be a whole different experience these days and there is often no need for the trip to the rolling road. It's all done via Bluetooth dongle and a simple upload. Takes minutes and is easily reversed back to original. In my case the only recommended prerequisite is the use of Ron97 super (or better) when running M260 or Ron95 if I switch to M235 mapping. Having said that, regular servicing is a must and as for mapping the 1.0l engine I agree I think would be rather pointless.MrT wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 9:15 pm I have had several cars remapped in the past, by well established tuners, such as Superchips, and I have been very pleased with the results. I see that Quantum tuning, which I have used in the past, say that their remap gives the following results for the ST 1.5:
BHP 230 (up 16%)
Torque 370 nm (up 27%)
These are worthwhile improvements.
For the STLine 155 Superchips give these figures:
153 standard up to 166, an increase of 13 bhp;
220nm up to 244nm, an increase of 24 nm torque.
Do these figures bring the 155 up to the 170 standard?
It’s probably not advisable to have an ecu remap on any car which is still in the warranty period.
