I think I still have the files on a PC at home but that’s not a lot of good for you as you still need to get them on a usb stick .
I will look later when back at home to see what I have but you can always get the files via the cyanlabs as they have built an application that eases the update method.
but now there was a maps update and it was just 49kb .
i tried it anyway , but it didn't work as to be expected .
btw sorry for the late response !!

You are definitely not up to date. You have to update the Sync version before it will let you update the maps.
You will need a USB memory stick formatted to ex.fat 32. (don't worry about this, just get a memory stick the formatting is easy on a PC)
Then from the ford site you just download the files they give you and unzip them to the stick. Just download the files to your PC/Laptop and then we can go from there.
If you want to freewheel it all the instructions are there on the Ford site you just checked.
Given that I rarely have need of the Sat Nav anyway, I think I will just carry on as before. I can always put my Luddite hat on and use my trusty Atlas if required.
Once again, thanks for attempting to help me out. That's a couple of pints I owe you.

Well having had the same problem back in November after upgrading to 3.4.23188 and consequently having "Software Updates Disabled" on my online account, today it's finally been fixed by Ford remotely and 3.4.23188 is properly registered, 3 months after the problem was logged.GAB wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 7:51 pm I'm not sure if anyone will know the answer, however I updated my car this week with the latest sync software download using the USB method and received the update complete message and the car is showing the latest version. When I uploaded the log file to the Ford website it appeared to upload but at the end there was a message which said something like the log file had not registered correctly on the system and would be done by a Ford engineer.
I checked back today and on my Ford account under the Sync Updates it now shows "Software Updates Disabled" so I now cannot do anything else including the Map updates. Can anyone advise? If not I guess it will be another trip the dealer.

I am following this thread with interest since I have exactly the same problem with SYNC updates on my wife's Focus (2019).
I updated to SYNC 3.4.23188 using the USB method after driving around for 1 hour. That seemed to work OK and now I have a green tick on the SYNC website.
I decided to use the WiFi method to update my Maps since I didn't plan a 2 hour drive anywhere. After several days of enabling WiFi in my driveway it appears to have updated the maps to F12. However I understand that the F12 notification appears at the start of the update, not at the end. In any case it didn't send a notification to the website since it shows that I still have a map update available. I'm not sure if it's my finger trouble, or their servers are slow to update my VIN file, or it's not completed the update fully.
I decided to try to re-upload the maps via USB and downloaded the file to my PC. However it is 8GB instead of 23GB. The files in SyncMyRide are 5 files of ***422*** type. These (I think) are Voice Command files, not Map files.
So, Is it possible that my maps are properly updated to F12 and for some reason there are 5 voice files remaining to be installed? Is this why the website says I have a map update pending?
Or is that 8GB download a 'freak' as mentioned earlier in this thread and should not be used?
Incidentally if I go to my SYNC screen and 'check for software updates' it shows that all my software is up to date, as of today's date and time. That would suggest that my Sync is fully up to date.
What would you do? Just assume that everything is now OK or try the 8GB download and hope for a completion notification on the Sync website.

When you updated your sync via usb did you upload the completion file back up to the Ford website?Loughlini wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 1:59 pm I am following this thread with interest since I have exactly the same problem with SYNC updates on my wife's Focus (2019).

Sometimes Ford are pretty slow updating there internal systems so it might be a case you’re maps are updated correctly. Sometimes I have raised a case with Ford which sparks an internal update to there website. Also connect your car to the WiFi and check for updates as this sometimes tracks triggers an update on the website.

Also note that when doing map updates, you do not need to drive around for an hour or more. Just leave the USB connected and it will just continue from where it left off on restart until it's done.

Thanks for the update. Yes, when I updated the Sync sw I uploaded the completion file to Ford. That's how I got a green tick on the website. When you update maps via WiFi it's supposed to send the completion file automatically without my intervention. So it's either very slow or it didn't happen. Many people on this forum say the Ford servers can be slow so maybe I'll just wait.
Sparks: I thought one of the characteristics of a USB install was that the vehicle had to be powered on for the duration of the update, otherwise it starts all over again if it is interrupted. The instructions are not that clear.... Ta.

I've never done my updates in one go, Did the last one over a couple of days driving short distances. I don't think it's in any instructions, we found out back in the early days of the Puma. I'd never update it if I had to drive around for a couple of hours. Maps is an irrelevant update for me as I use Android Auto and not the Ford system (It's not very good), but I like to keep it updated for the next owner.Loughlini wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 3:50 pm Thanks for the update. The sooner Ford hand over the updating of sync and map updates to somebody like Cyanlabs the easier it would be for Ford owners. I am not sure who they use whether in house or contracted out but they need to be released. Seen constant issues regarding sync updates on the Kuga site yet my own Kuga which came with sync 1 but now has sync 3 will update in 40 minutes including maps. As I have retro fitted my sync system updates I would never be available to me via the official route so had to use the alternative.
Just goes to show you how easy it can be or should be. Ford just need to employ the right people. Sadly I will need to use the official route on the Puma so let's see what fun we have.
