Like when it regularly still shows you speed limits from previous roadworks etc that have gone!
GPS doesn't do that. Maps don't do that. Live traffic service does that. Temporary speed restrictions do not feature in the map data that is stored in your vehicle's nav system. GPS simply gives your location. It doesn't know what the speed limit is
Really? I don’t have a live traffic subscription!!! And it calls incorrect speed limits in the same exact locations eg in the middle of a 30 run jumps to 60 and still displays the incorrect speed limit at these locations. No signs anywhere near! So how does that work then? Plus ive had numerous cars that display the speed limit that don’t have a camera anywhere or data connection. Same for the sat nav in my phone, funny how it accurately displays the speed limit without a data connection, But no it isn’t, speed limits are contained in a file within the maps folder just like everything else. Online only systems accepted.
The base speed limit comes from the GPS maps data! With live overrides carried out by the camera in varying degrees of success, often poorly. Otherwise how does the speed limit instantly appear after a reset?
The GPS is just a signal used for positioning but we’re not referring to just the signal we’re referring to the whole gps/navigation system hardware and software

That isn't Speed sign recognition though....That is only achieved by the camera..

Ok black is white! So you’re trying to claim speed limit display and speed sign recognition (which triggers the speed limit display) are different things? Time to dip out
Live traffic is included in all Pumas for the first year then it's £3.49 per month . If you search the forum lots of owners have had this problem and had it sorted via a software update. 4521, you don't say which car you own nor how old it is.

They are different things but you don't seem to understand that the car has two sources of information for the speed limit. The first is in the map data installed in the Sync system. The second is the information the camera sees. The camera information will override the map data because obviously the camera is giving real time data whereas the maps data could be out of date.
Give me strength! I am the one saying that ! Counter arguing the statement that the speed limit always comes from the camera, it mostly comes from the sat nav andvis overridden, when it works, by the camera. Lets all go back to sleep!

Sorry to bump this thread after such a long time but my new Puma's SSR has been playing up.I noticed the other day that driving on a 70mph dual carriageway the SSR was showing 60mph and then it went completely off.
It is back on now but is not as instantaneous as it was and when you are driving in a 30mph area the sign shows two black dashes within the sign something which was not happening before.

Back to normal now.
Must have been affected by the atrocious weather we are having at the moment.
