Hi,

Is there anyway to turn off speed sign recognition, as most of the time it’s wrong? I’ve looked in the driver assistance setting and it’s not there, I know you can turn it off in the fiesta.

According to the manual
The system turns on when you switch the ignition on and you cannot switch the system off.

It uses a camera behind the mirror to read the signs as you pass them so it shouldn't really be getting it wrong.

Had this problem in my 1st edition Puma. Software update fixed it.

Mine reads the signs on sideroads as I am passing them, so I'm driving along in a 40 limit when all of a sudden the car slows down to 20 and I have to switch the speed limiter off to accelerate again.

Me too.... :D
In fact if the software update doesn't fix it and it's picking up limits from side streets, the camera could need calibrating or is misaligned.
Either way have the dealer check it.

I think there is no camera recognition but linked to car gps instead. That´s why map updates sometimes solves It. This apllies to Puma X-design with no front camera.

That is not correct, signs are detected via the onboard camera on the Puma and other Ford models - Kuga, Focus, Fiesta.
Which is why it picks up motorway overhead restrictions and roadworks as they appear, something a GPS system can't do.
GPS systems can give sign information. i.e Google maps and Waze etc, but they aren't the same and are not as instantly reactive.

No. Generally the gps sets the speed limit indication with the camera overriding the gps speed when it sees a sign, certainly not always. But it mostly gets it right, I have a couple of places (to the inch!) where the gps increases the limit 1/4 mile before the unrestricted limit and a couple of others where it drops it to 30 or even 20 in a 60 limit without any road signs in sight, then usually changes it back at the next speed sign. But I cannot imagine why you would ever want yo turn it off ????

You don’t need to switch the limiter off, just press the accelerator more and it will override

Speed sign recognition is done by the camera.
