How do you establish if a Puma is trailer prepared? It makes a difference which electrics kit to order with the towbar. I have been searching but so far found nothing conclusive to verify the situation either way.

Your dealer is best bet for starters.

Yes did try but the deafening silence led me to ask on the forum🥴 I will try a dealer at another location.

Good idea, all dealers are not equal.

Did you have any joy with this Puma2002?

I have exactly the same question. Although I purchased the vehicle brand new, it was stock vehicle and at the time, I had no intention of towing, so I never asked about it either way. The supplying dealer is trying to find out for me but I wondered if you discovered any other way of telling.

many thanks.

My wife’s 2023 Puma 155 Titanium has a factory fitted tow bar, so I assume the basic wiring is in the loom. Furthermore, if you look at the car specification on line you will see the towing capacity. The car will tow a small caravan, but want it only for a push bike trailer or a motorcycle trailer. The normal plug fitting is multi pin , but if you have a trailer fitted with the old 5 pin plug you can buy an adapter.
If you have other queries, you might be well advised to ask a specialist tow bar fitter fitting company. They will probably have dealt with a Puma before.

In answer to I think all of the above.

The dealer won't have a clue whether the car is pre-wired or not unless they access the information that could be obtained from Eits. I know Etis isn't available for the public anymore but dealers have access to that same info giving the build data. They would not know without checking that info.

From my experience on the Kuga it was only high end models which had the towing pre-pack as standard. This stopped with the Titanium X back in 2016. All models thereafter don't have it. Considering what the Puma is it is highly unlikely anyone at Ford would think many will require a towbar.

The maximum permitted towing weight for the 1 litre Puma is 750kg, my model.

Anyone wanting to fit a towbar with dedicated ford or other electrics would be best to buy the kit for NOT prepared as the kit will include canbus wiring to tap into the cars canbus CAN-Hi and CAN-Lo and will have a tap for the 12v power required. DO NOT take this from the boot light if there is one.

If anyone finds their Puma is pre-wired then I take it back. If it is the connectors would be taped up inside the boot wheel arch liner. Power and canbus connection. With all the penny pinching Ford are doing I would be tomorrow nights steak pie its not there and I do like my steak pie.

I have been an active member on UK Kuga site for about five and a half years now and have a bit of an interest in helping others with sync 2 and sync 3 upgrades, towbars and abs sensors after I found out that most fords have two different types fitted to the rear and some of Ford's records are wrong to VIN so you go to Ford for a rear abs sensor, fit it and it doesn't sort the problem so you think something else is wrong. It isn't it's just they have given you the wrong sensor and they assume their computer screen is correct. Sometimes it isn't. Seems to be wrong for vehicles which have self park so whoever has inputted the information at Ford haven't done it properly.

Seen countless number of people looking for the pre pack for the towing module but it's not there now. You watch someone prove me wrong with a puma lol. It's just best to order the kit for cars which have not been factory prepared as you will have everything in the kit to complete the job.

It's the same with pre-wired for a rear camera on the Kuga. On some cars it's all pre-wired to the rear of the headlining and on others it isn't. There's a bit of inconsistency even with the same model.
